Exploring Remote Ethnic Lands is a 3-day classical excursion to the remote areas of Luang Namtha, Northern Laos. You will be taken away from the busy town to enjoy spectacular landscapes, observe the daily activities of local people, experience ethnic cultures, observe festivals and ceremonies and indulge in typical food and drinks of the locals.

Day 1
Luang Namtha – National Park drive – Muangsing.
The journey starts at the Hiker office. After meeting with your guide and driver, you will be driving north to Muangsing, viewing spectacular views of the National Park along the way. We will stop off at some villages of the Akha ethnic minority, a very well known the hill-tribe living in Northern Laos. This is an opportunity to observe and learn about the Akha life or to take a small walk into the forest. Next, we stop at the Kmu village, the largest group of a minority in Northern Laos. They are considered to be the first group of people who established the kingdom in Laos. Soon we arrive at Muangsing, check-in and have some lunch. We will take a short walk through the forest up to the sacred Stupa on a hill-top. The remainder of the day will be spent around the town. We will enjoy dinner at the local night market.2
Day 2
Muangsing – Ethnic Villages explore – Muanglong.
In the morning you will visit the local fresh market with diverse minorities selling their products, feel free to capture some photos. After breakfast, we head to some villages to observe local products being made for instance whisky, cotton-silk weaving, bamboo weaving and chatting with the locals. After lunch, we head off to Muanglong on a dirt road, around 3hrs drive including a visit to Tailue village. At Muanglong we hike up a hill-top to witness the spectacular views against the limestone wall and plateau at sunset time. We enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.3
Day 3
Muanglong – Remote Villages – Cave – Viewpoints – Luang Namtha.
This day is more relaxing, after taking it easy in the morning, we then take a biking tour to enjoy the scenery. We will cross a suspension bridge, cycle around the ancient forest and banana fields. If you prefer we can hike up to the sacred cave of the town to enjoy the highland and valley views. We then go to the valley of Namma, riding through villages. We have lunch, then drive directly to Luang Namtha town arrive just around sunset time.Maximum 9pax | Price per Person |
